Serenity Studios stands in solidarity with black people across this country and around the world. The recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery and many others are devastating, and we mourn with you. We see you. We hear you. We recognize that these recent atrocities are neither new nor isolated incidents, but rather are a result of the systemic racism that continues to actively inflict harm on black folks at virtually every level of our society. We are deeply disturbed by the ongoing injustices in our country, and our team has been having many difficult and meaningful conversations about our role in dismantling these systemic injustices.
As a presently white-led company, we acknowledge our own privilege and embrace our responsibility to take active steps towards effecting change. We continue to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion within our company, but recognize that we have much more work to do. We continue to educate ourselves as to ways in which we can commit to anti-racist practices in our policies, processes, actions, and work. Additionally, we are expanding our efforts towards listening to, connecting with, and advocating for people from black, indigenous, and people of color communities.
We condemn the racism, violence, and severe injustices being inflicted upon black people. We envision a world in which equity and justice are truly achievable for all people, even those most marginalized. We recognize that enacting systemic change starts with each of us individually — understanding our privilege, evaluating our complicity in this system, and committing to do better. We invite you to join us, wherever you are on your anti-racism journey, in learning, supporting, and taking action to help create a more equitable and just world.
